I was delighted as always to catch up with Tim at Other Voices doing what he did best calling all the really important soundscapes from the desk, we laughed and shared the old days stories in a Dingle Pub. More pints were had at The Tribute for Robbie Brennan gig at The Olympia in 2016 and spoke of working together on the new Trouble Pilgrims album which unfortunately did not happen for one reason or another (I would have loved to have known what Tim’s input would have brought to Dark Shadows and Rust). The Pilgrims did however return to Lombard Studios now Westland Studios to record the album and Tim’s Spirit and all who had been there before us was there and very much alive in that same control room.
Tim, I loved what you did and the way that you did it in the early days and I have really fond memories of our trip to Germany with The Myster Men and not giving in to Eric Burdon’s posse when they tried to move us out of the studio! I always looked up to you and loved your Rock’n’Roll grounded one liners that were full of hard won studio and on the road experience, always funny and bone dry and delivered on time every time in that understated Tim Martin way.
Tim your were special – you are special and you now leave that empty engineers chair and a massive legacy of great production work with all the artists that were lucky enough to have your great ears and hands and musical talents in the control room.
Sad Melodies and True Romantics – Recorded by by Tim Buckley/Tim Martin live in Klimperkiste Club Hamburg.
Tim you will be missed and like all you did… you were one of a kind.
God Rest You Now Tim.
